Visa Overview:

  • Processing Time: Varies by country, application type and case complexity; published processing time does not include the time required to provide biometrics.
  • Stay Duration: Visitors are normally admitted for up to six months per entry unless a border officer authorizes a different period.
  • Entry Type: Single or multiple entry at the visa officer’s discretion; visa validity and permitted stay are separate.

Requirements for Nepalese Citizens:

  • Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa):
  • Clear colour copy of a valid passport, including identity and relevant visa or stamp pages.
  • Travel purpose, itinerary, accommodation and invitation or relationship documents where applicable.
  • Financial evidence, commonly including at least six months of bank-account activity, plus employment or business evidence and home-country ties.
  • Biometrics after receiving the instruction letter, unless the applicant is exempt or has valid reusable biometrics.
  • Study Permit:
  • Letter of Acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
  • Provincial or Territorial Attestation Letter (PAL/TAL), unless an official exception applies.
  • Proof of funds for tuition, living expenses and travel, together with passport and academic documents.
  • Medical examination, police certificate or other supporting evidence when requested.

The Process:

  1. Complete the eligibility assessment and create the personalized document checklist.
  2. Prepare and upload the application through the appropriate IRCC online portal and pay the applicable fees.
  3. After receiving the Biometrics Instruction Letter, book and complete biometrics at the authorized collection centre.
  4. Monitor the IRCC account for additional-document requests, the decision and passport-submission instructions.
