Visa Overview:

  • Processing Time: Usually about one week after acceptance of a complete application; complex cases may take considerably longer, including up to about two months.
  • Stay Duration: As granted by Japanese immigration; a short-term stay is generally up to 90 days and does not permit paid work.
  • Entry Type: Single entry or multiple entry, subject to eligibility and approval.

Requirements for Nepalese Citizens:

  • Tourist / Short-Term Stay:
  • Valid passport, completed visa application form and one recent photograph.
  • Flight details and a clear day-by-day itinerary in Japan, including accommodation information.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds, such as bank statements, balance certificates, income certificates or tax records.
  • Invitation, guarantee and relationship documents when visiting relatives, friends or a sponsoring organization.
  • Student / Long-Term Stay:
  • Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) arranged in Japan by the school, institution or authorized proxy.
  • Admission or enrolment documents, academic records and other institution-specific evidence.
  • Proof that tuition fees and living costs can be covered during the planned period of study.

The Process:

  2. Prepare the application form, photograph, itinerary, financial evidence and supporting documents.
  3. Book and lodge the application through the designated Japan visa application channel in Kathmandu.
  4. Track the application and arrange passport collection after the decision.
